5 Simple Copywriting Tricks You Can Start Using Immediately

I missed my greeting to you yesterday because I was working on a copywriting project for a client…

What was the project about, you ask?

An e-mail follow-up that pushes his first, “entry-level” product…

And can you guess how long it took me?

It took 9 full hours to craft out only 7 emails…

That’s a sh*t ton of time to write 7 emails, isn’t it?

Sure is…

Here’s what you don’t know:

• A big chunk of that is research
• Another big chunk is rewriting, rewriting, rewriting!

I’ll be honest here…

One of the biggest skills you wanna have when it comes to selling online (or in advertising in general)…

Is that you NEED to know how to write good copy…

And I mean dAaaaamn good…

Because average just won’t cut it anymore…

And to help you make more sales in your hustle and to keep things movin’ for you swimmingly well…

I included some simple tricks for you in this post- 5 tricks you can use to jumpstart your marketing that you can upgrade your bhiz immediately, here they are:

1. Talk like you would in “real life”.

And not like you would if you were writing a college paper…

As soon as you start typing, the words you use completely change, don’t they?

You try and sound all “smarty-pants” on us and instead of keeping us interested in you with words we understand,

You bore us to death with a whizz of dictionary-UNfriendly words that bore us to death before you even get started…

Keep it simple, silly…

2. Please, for the love of God, use line breaks!

You ever see a long rant on your Facebook feed from a friend who doesn’t know how to use the Enter key on their keyboard? Their big block of text is a major pain in the ass to look at because your brain knows it’s gonna have a hard time reading that mumbled mess. My eyes are already screaming “Torture!” as I type this…

So I’ll stop…

Do you feel that already?

As soon as your eyes moved to the wide-open space they relaxed again…

So make it easy for your people to read your copy and don’t be shy with that Enter key…

Easy to do, right?

3. Do your homework

Hustlers who advertise without researching their customers are as useless as a leaky beer pitcher…

Remember this Wordsmith, you can’t write copy unless you know:

• Who’s gonna read it…
• What they’re after the most…
• What they wanna avoid…
• What things they’ve tried…
• What they’re afraid of…

Learn as much as you can about your customer before you start selling and you’ll find out that selling gets a tad bit easier…

Most people “think” they know their customer but until you do the research,

You’re guessing (and guesses don’t build empires)…

4. Headlines, headlines, headlines!

I have to say it 3 times because it’s 3 times more important than anything else you write…

You spend a boatload of the time writing the body of your copy but if your headline isn’t interesting to the fella you’re selling to,

Then he’ll never read it, will he?

The easiest way to gettin’ good at headlines is by saving the headlines you click on…

That’s right, it’s called creating a Swipe File…

And every good copywriter has one…

Save the headlines that get your attention and then model those for your specific selling situation…

5. Finally, treat your copy like a living, breathing salesman in your business

This is the most ridiculously simple piece of advice that’s widely ignored by beginners…

If you’re asking folks to give up their name and email, you could hire any random kid off the streets to hold up a sign and take down info…

But if you’re asking complete strangers to pay you $500 then you better hire a smooth-talkin’ sonuva gun to do the selling for you…

In other words, your copy has to be as strong as the commitment you’re asking for…

You wouldn’t dress down this salesman would you?

Or ask him to use less words?

No way

Especially if you’re in the dead-serious business of asking for money…

If you want more copywriting tips, I included a 100-word “Powerbank” full of power words to use in your copy in my book, Live Free & Retire Young:

Use it to boost sales through your advertising and to make your copywriting, super persuasive…

Oh!

This Thursday kicks off 6 months of living in the land of Smiles…

And the finishing touches on a launch that starts in 2018…

Are you excited for 2018 yet?

Cuz by-gahlee I am!
